Personally guided by Teemu Vehviläinen the founder of Grayling Guide
Three Wild Species. Seven Days. One Fishing Expedition.
A private, all-inclusive fishing adventure through the remote wilderness of northern Scandinavia.
Wild trout, grayling and arctic char. Three wonderful fish species, each offering a different challenge.
Can you catch all three on one expedition and complete the Lapland Grand Slam?
Join me for seven days of fishing in the rivers and fell lakes of Northern Finland, Sweden and Norway. We'll explore remote waters, travel also by helicopter or floatplane and enjoy the freedom of a fishing trip without a rigid schedule.
Dry-fly fishing is especially close to my heart, but I'm happy to adapt our fishing methods to your interests and the conditions. Fly fishing or spinning, the important thing is enjoying the fishing.
I'll take care of the arrangements, from airport transfers and fishing licences to accommodation, meals and equipment.
Your adventure begins where the roads end.
Three Species. Three Different Challenges.
The Grand Slam is about variety. Different waters, different fish and different approaches to fishing.
Brown Trout – The Wild Predator
Search for wild brown trout in the rivers and lakes of northern Scandinavia. Whether you're presenting a dry fly, fishing a nymph or working a streamer, brown trout offer exciting opportunities and memorable encounters.
Grayling – The Dry-Fly Favourite
Grayling fishing is one of Lapland's great pleasures. Watching a grayling rise to a carefully presented dry fly in a remote northern river is an experience every fly fisher should have.
Arctic Char – The Treasure of the Fells
Venture into the remote and clear waters in search of Arctic char. These beautiful fish inhabit some of the most spectacular fishing environments in the north and offer a rewarding challenge on a fly rod.
Three wild species. One expedition. The challenge is to catch them all.
The Lapland Grand Slam takes us into remote wilderness rivers and lakes, away from the usual fishing destinations.
Helicopter or floatplane transportation is included in the expedition, helping us reach waters that would otherwise take a lot of time and effort to access. I'll choose the most suitable aircraft and route according to our destinations and group size.
Over seven days, we'll explore different waters in search of all three species. We might spend a couple of days fishing dry flies for grayling, then head into the fells for arctic char or explore new rivers for wild brown trout.
There's no rigid schedule. I'll plan the trip around your group, the weather, water conditions and fishing opportunities. If we find a particularly good spot, we might stay a little longer.
The fishing determines the journey, not the other way around.
The expedition normally includes your arrival and departure days.
I'll meet you at Kittilä Airport and take care of transportation throughout the trip. If your flight arrives very late in the evening, we can discuss adjusting the schedule so you don't lose valuable fishing time.
The exact program depends on your flights, our chosen fishing areas and the conditions.
The goal is to give you a good opportunity to fish for all three species, but there's no pressure to rush through the wilderness just to tick boxes.
And of course, completing the Grand Slam is a challenge, not a guaranteed catch.
Wake up close to the fishing waters, enjoy your morning coffee surrounded by the northern wilderness and look forward to another day of fishing.
Depending on the itinerary, accommodation includes modest guest rooms and wilderness tent camping.
Our wilderness camps allow us to stay close to remote fishing areas and make the most of our time on the water.
After a day of fishing, return to camp for a good meal, conversation and stories from the day.
Your expedition can also include river rafting especially while chasing grayling.
All camping equipment, accommodation and meals are included in the expedition. We can use tiipii tents, outdoor beds and matresses if our plan doesn't require moving the camp.
This isn't conventional luxury. It's something different: the freedom to explore remote fishing waters without having to organise the expedition yourself.
The real luxury is time on the water, wild fish and the wilderness around you.
I'm Teemu Vehviläinen, the guy behind Grayling Guide, and I'll personally guide your Grand Slam expedition from beginning to end.
The trip is private, for two to four anglers. With a small group, it's easy to adjust our plans, spend more time on promising waters or simply take things at a relaxed pace.
I've spent more than 40 years fishing and exploring the waters of northern Scandinavia. I enjoy sharing what I've learned, but I'm still just as excited as anyone when a good fish rises to a dry fly.
The Grand Slam doesn't need to be physically demanding.
I can choose fishing waters that are reasonably easy to reach and arrange the days according to your abilities and preferences.
If you enjoy hiking, wading and exploring more challenging terrain, we can certainly include that too.
You don't need to be an expert caster or an experienced wilderness traveller. A little curiosity, an interest in fishing and a willingness to spend time outdoors are much more important.

Is the Grand Slam suitable for experienced fly fishers?
Absolutely. The expedition is particularly well suited to anglers who enjoy exploring different waters and pursuing wild fish. Dry-fly fishing is at the heart of the experience, but nymphs, streamers and spin fishing are also welcome.
Is the itinerary fixed?
No. Every Grand Slam expedition is private and flexible. We choose our fishing destinations according to the season, weather, water conditions and your preferences. The goal is to give you the best possible opportunities to target all three species. Teemu personally organizes every expedition.
Are helicopter or floatplane transfers included?
Yes. Helicopter or floatplane transportation is included in the expedition price. The aircraft and route depend on the itinerary and group size. If weather conditions prevent the planned flight transfer, the cost of that unused flight transportation is refunded.
Do I need to bring fishing or camping equipment?
No. All necessary fishing and camping equipment is included, along with fishing licences, meals, accommodation and transportation from and back to Kittilä Airport. You're welcome to bring your favourite fishing equipment if you prefer.
The seven-day expedition normally includes arrival and departure days, so it doesn't mean seven complete days on the water.
I'll plan the schedule around your flights and the fishing locations. If you're arriving very late in the evening, we can discuss a suitable arrangement before booking.
Is catching all three species guaranteed?
No. We're fishing for wild fish in natural waters, and conditions can change. The Grand Slam is a challenge, and catching all three species is the goal, not a guarantee.
