New Zealand is one of my favourite places in the world for fly fishing. I've travelled there many times, exploring beautiful rivers and pursuing wild brown trout and rainbow trout in some truly spectacular landscapes.
Imagine spotting a large trout in crystal-clear water, carefully approaching your position and making that one perfect cast. Sight fishing is one of the most exciting parts of New Zealand fly fishing, and it can be just as challenging as it is rewarding.
From open valleys to rivers winding through lush rainforests, the scenery is every bit as memorable as the fishing.
I know several fishing areas particularly well, especially around Hawke's Bay on the North Island, but I've also explored waters on the South Island.
