These Terms & Conditions apply to fishing trips, guided activities and expeditions organised by Grayling Guide in Finland, Sweden, Norway and other agreed destinations.
By confirming a booking, the customer (“the Client”) agrees to these terms, together with the details and conditions stated in the booking confirmation.
For trips qualifying as package travel, applicable Finnish package travel legislation and mandatory consumer rights take precedence over these terms.
Grayling Guide is a Finnish fishing guide and travel organiser operating in accordance with Finnish package travel legislation.
Grayling Guide is registered with the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA/KKV) as a travel organiser, with the required insolvency protection arrangements in place.
Our qualifying fishing packages are organised under the Finnish Act on Travel Service Combinations, providing customers with the rights and protections established by Finnish law.
You can find information about registered Finnish travel organisers in the official Travel Guarantee Register.
A 20% deposit is required to confirm a booking.
The remaining 80% is payable on the final day of the trip, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Prices and included services are confirmed before booking. Any additional services or costs must be agreed separately.
We understand that travel plans sometimes change.
Our cancellation policy is:
30 days or more before the trip: Full refund of the deposit. No cancellation or administration fees.
Less than 30 days before the trip: A cancellation charge of up to 20% of the total trip price may apply, depending on reasonable and justified cancellation costs.
No-show or cancellation after the trip has begun: Charges may apply according to the services provided, costs incurred and applicable law.
Where Finnish package travel legislation applies, the Client may cancel at any time before departure. Any cancellation charge must comply with that legislation, and the Client may request an explanation of how the charge was calculated.
No cancellation charge applies where the Client has a statutory right to cancel free of charge, including certain unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination or significant changes to the agreed package.
Cancellations must be communicated to Grayling Guide in writing, preferably by email.
Fishing in the northern wilderness depends on weather, water levels, ice conditions and other circumstances beyond our control.
Grayling Guide may adjust fishing locations, routes, schedules, activities or transportation when reasonably necessary for safety or practical reasons.
We will aim to provide suitable alternatives whenever possible.
If a significant change affects the agreed trip, the Client will be informed of their available options and rights under applicable law.
If Grayling Guide cancels a trip before departure, payments will be refunded as required by law.
Any refund due under the applicable package travel rules will be issued without undue delay and no later than 14 days after termination of the contract.
Some expeditions include helicopter, floatplane, boat, snowmobile or other specialist transportation.
These services depend on weather, safety conditions, availability and decisions made by the relevant transport operators.
If planned transportation cannot operate, Grayling Guide will discuss suitable alternatives with the Client.
Any refunds, price reductions or other remedies will depend on the services actually provided, the agreed package and applicable law.
For trips with specific aircraft arrangements, any additional conditions will be explained before booking.
Fishing and wilderness activities involve natural risks.
These may include slippery rocks, uneven terrain, cold water, changing weather, strong currents, boating hazards, ice conditions and injuries associated with outdoor activities.
By participating, the Client acknowledges these risks and agrees to act responsibly.
The Client must follow the guide's safety instructions, use required safety equipment and inform the guide of any immediate safety concerns.
Grayling Guide may restrict or stop an activity if continuing would create an unacceptable safety risk.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Clients should be reasonably prepared for the physical demands of their chosen trip.
Some expeditions involve walking over uneven terrain, wading, wilderness camping, boating or spending long periods outdoors in changing weather.
Before booking, please inform Grayling Guide of any mobility limitations, accessibility needs or other circumstances that may require adjustments to the planned activities.
Relevant safety information should also be shared before the trip when necessary.
If you're uncertain whether a particular expedition is suitable, please contact us before booking.
Clients must not participate in fishing, boating, snowmobile travel or other activities while impaired in a way that endangers themselves or others.
Illegal drug use is prohibited.
The guide may refuse participation in an activity or take other necessary safety measures if a Client's behaviour creates a serious risk.
Any financial consequences will be determined according to the circumstances and applicable law.
Fishing licences are included when specifically stated in the package description or booking confirmation.
For other trips, Grayling Guide can advise on the necessary licences and help arrange them.
All Clients must follow local fishing regulations, including seasonal restrictions, protected areas, catch limits and permitted fishing methods.
We encourage responsible fish handling, selective fishing and respect for wild fish populations.
Fishing and camping equipment are provided when included in the agreed trip.
Clients are welcome to bring their own equipment, but are responsible for using and looking after it appropriately.
Clients should take reasonable care of their personal belongings, including cameras, electronics, clothing and fishing gear.
Grayling Guide is responsible for loss or damage where required by applicable law.
Grayling Guide maintains business liability insurance.
Clients are strongly advised to obtain suitable travel insurance covering:
Medical treatment and accidents
Trip cancellation and interruption
Personal belongings and fishing equipment
Outdoor and wilderness activities included in the trip
Emergency assistance and evacuation where applicable
Clients should check that their insurance covers the activities and destinations involved.
Grayling Guide's business liability insurance does not replace personal travel insurance.
All fishing takes place in natural waters with wild fish.
Although we use our experience and local knowledge to choose promising locations and suitable techniques, catching fish cannot be guaranteed.
Weather, water conditions, fish activity and local regulations may affect the fishing programme.
Northern lights, wildlife sightings and other natural phenomena are also never guaranteed.
We aim to minimise our impact on the waters and wilderness areas we visit.
Clients are expected to respect wildlife, follow local access and camping regulations, avoid unnecessary damage to the environment and carry out their rubbish.
We practise responsible fish handling and selective fishing, taking only what is appropriate and legally permitted.
If something does not meet the agreed arrangements, please inform your guide as soon as possible so we have an opportunity to resolve the issue.
Grayling Guide will provide assistance and address any deficiencies in accordance with applicable law.
Clients retain their statutory rights to appropriate remedies, including price reductions or compensation where applicable.
These terms are governed by Finnish law, subject to any mandatory consumer protection provisions that apply.
For travel packages, the relevant provisions of Finnish package travel legislation and applicable general terms for package travel take precedence where required.
Nothing in these terms limits the Client's statutory consumer rights.
