About me

I'm Teemu Vehviläinen, also known as "Grayling guide". I'm the main guide and founder of Grayling Guide. I've been fishing more than 35 years and most of it in the last decades in Northern Finland, Sweden and Norway.  I live in Palojoensuu, Enontekiö in Northern Finland. I'm a passionate fly fisherman but I also handle spin fishing and ice fishing.  I especially enjoy fishing on dry flies for grayling.

I taught in primary school for almost 20 years so I should get along also with children well. In that job I have arranged a lot of multi-day camp schools and taught for example fly fishing and outdoor skill courses after school. Nowadays I just concentrate on teaching fishing and guiding full time. 

I have a Finnish Lapphund Bruce who is over 12 years now. And some of you guessed it right. His last name is Springsteen. Bruce is a reindeer dog without reindeers and he can participate in our trips if you like.

I'm a hard working laid back guy who doesn't take things too seriously. The main thing in our trips is to have a great time. Enjoy the nature without any pressure and exact timetables while we are fishing. There's not a right or wrong style to fish and Grayling Guide is more than fishing!

  I'm reaIly cautious of not leaving any trash behind. I also want to treat every fish in a respectful manner and kill only the fish we are going to eat right away. For dinner we try to catch medium-size fish while we release the small and really big ones. We want to make sure that the next generations can enjoy the same nature as we do.

I like to spend more time in the wilderness than updating my webpages and social media. So if you don't see lots of new photos in my webpages weekly it only means that I'm rather exploring more rivers to fish than using computers. Although I have got an Instagram account: @graylingguide

My main goaI is that you'll be able to relax in our fishing days together. Yes, and of course catch some fish. Maybe even that trophy one ;)
